Alphabetrug

Karen stitched up this utterly charming alphabet rug over the past couple of years in hopeful anticipation of a grandchild.

Guess it worked.  Her lovely daughter gave birth to a grandson on Tuesday – everyone is happy and healthy.  Pictures will be available at the Monday night Baby Knitalong this coming Monday – 6-8pm.  It's free, but please call to reserve a seat.

The rug?  It was stitched in individual squares from charts by Elizabeth Bradley, who also provides instructions for stitching the blocks together with a relatively painless method (rather clever actually).  Karen also did the edging binding as well, although our finishing department also offers that service.

It's hangin on the wall over the front baby area – take a minute to look – there are some very interesting choices for some of those letters!
