Schooner dress for Gigi

Karen knit this cute dress for Gigi from the Swans Island pattern, Schooner Dress. She made the sleeves a bit longer instead of adding pockets, which meant she only needed one skein of each color — and had leftovers (pictured below).

The pattern has instructions ranging between ages 2–10. The gauge calls for sport weight, which means you could use cotton if you’re concerned about sensitive skin (though it’s worth noting that the Swans Island organic yarn didn’t irritate Gigi’s eczema).

The “Big Boy” blanket

Now that my grandson is getting a new sibling, he has graduated out of the crib into a bed. He is also turning three at the end of the month, so part of his birthday present will be a new blanket out of Swan’s Island luxurious organic merino yarn. It’s a pricey project, but definitely an heirloom. It is on display until March 25th.
